Since January 2008 when P-GRADE portal was first released as open source software on Sourceforge it became popular and many Grids and VOs selected it as their science gateway for their user communities (see our
User communites page).
Based on the success of P-GRADE portal the 1st PUCOWO workshop was organized in 2010 June in Zurich where representative of P-GRADE portal user communities from 8 countries have come together to discuss and share experience of using P-GRADE Portal among the various user communities and portal developers (see details at http://portal.p-grade.hu/pucowo/). During PUCOWO'2010 the new generation WS-PGRADE portal was announced and a tutorial was organized on WS-PGRADE. PUCOWO'2010 was very successful and the participants decided to organize PUCOWO annually.
This year PUCOWO will be organized in London by the University of Westminster. The organization and goal of the workshop have not changed. The major goal of PUCOWO'2011 is to share experience of using P-GRADE or WS-PGRADE portals among the various user communities and portal developers. The program is discussion-oriented. Every presentation will be followed by a 10-15 minutes discussion time in order to give opportunity for the users to express their P-GRADE experience and the developers to better understand the problems.
There will be no proceedings and registration fee at PUCOWO.2011 since it is a discussion meeting and not a publication meeting.
A half-day tutorial will be also part of the program. The new Liferay-based WS-PGRADE portal (release 3.3) and the SHIWA Simulation Platform will be presented and demonstrated during the tutorial.
PUCOWO'2011 will be co-organized with IWSG-Life'2011 (3rd International Workshop on Science Gateways for Life Sciences). The afternoon of 8th of June will be a joint event between PUCOWO'2011 and IWSG-Life'2011. In this way the two portal user and developer communities can exchange ideas between them. This is a great opportunity for the PUCOWO community to learn the needs of the life sciences community and for the life sciences community to learn what the PUCOWO community can offer them to solve their problems.
